Lightning and Nurse Practitioner Maureen Storch keeping our community healthy at the Urgent Care.

Hello!

What a busy weekend I had! This weekend I worked with Maureen Storch, Meghan’s mom. She is a nurse practitioner. I learned a lot about health care in Colorado Springs.  A nurse practitioner is a specially trained nurse who can evaluate, diagnose and treat health problems. She take’s care of patients who come to Memorial Health System Urgent Care.   She works either at Briargate Urgent Care or Circle Urgent Care (closer to downtown).

She works with other providers (doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants), nurses and technicians at Urgent Care and sometimes she transfers patients to the emergency room if they need additional care there. She also refers patients to specialists such as Orthopedic surgeons or physical therapists if they need specialty care.

Nurse practitioners increase patients access to health care.  If the clinics that Maureen works in didn’t exist, some patients would have no professional health care.

I hope you stay healthy!!

I can’t wait for my next assignment. Signing off for today,

Lightning T. Bear
