What a day I had class. I am simply exhausted…

I woke up this morning at 4:30am before my alarm clock with much anticipation on my exciting day as a Nurse with Cosette’s mom. We were to report at 6:00am. When we arrived downtown at her work, things seemed quite chaotic. We got report, which is an update on all the residents we will take care of for the day. We then counted narcotics, which are a controlled medication to make sure everything was accounted for. After that we were ready to begin our day. Our day consisted of passing medications to residents who needed them. We charted (wrote about) the residents who were sick. We also helped residents change their bandaids on their boo boo’s. We had an exciting surprise when the fire alarm sounded, all the staff scrambled to secure the residents and wait for the fire department. Fortunately it was a false alarm. Once we received the “all clear”( which means that everything is safe and secure) we were able to return to our duties as a nurse. We were able to assist more people before they went to their lunch. At the end of our day at 2:30pm we reported off to the next nurse that was coming in. Being a nurse for the day was very exciting and informative without nurses there would be a lot of sick people and no one to help heal boo boo’s. I am grateful to have nurses in our community to help take care of us.

That’s all for now. I am going to take a nap! I hope my brother got more rest today working in the middle school at DCC…
